Older youth are supported in their goals for learning, including high school graduation and progress toward post secondary education, and have opportunities for career exposure and employment in the transition to adulthood.

OUR STORY
BREAKTHROUGH LIL-KAGE LEARNING KCENTER (B.L.K.)®
Vocational | Technical | Apprenticeship | AI Training
In 2011, we discovered that 50% of Oakland’s high school students were not graduating on time. This painful reality inspired us to act. After presenting a vocational and apprenticeship proposal to Oakland city leaders and being told it wasn’t possible due to lack of funding, we chose to become the solution. BREAKTHROUGH LIL-KAGE Learning KCenter (B.L.K.)® is the result. As a veteran-led initiative and MPA graduate from the University of San Francisco, I’ve used every tool available to create this opportunity for youth aged 13–25 in underserved communities.
WE PROVIDE
• Vocational and technical education
• Artificial intelligence training
• High school diploma support
• Paid stipends and mentorship
• Entrepreneurial and workforce readiness
Our goal is to create a pipeline where students can learn, earn, and return
— becoming entrepreneurs and community leaders. We are currently in Phase 2: seeking funding, facilities, and strategic partnerships. Property acquisition is underway through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative in Alameda, California.
